Change can be difficult… even for children.
I work side by side with my clients. We talk through what is happening in their homes, how their families are growing and changing, and what things they are looking forward to. For some families, decluttering is a common experience. For other families, they are starting now. This means change and just like adults handle change differently, so do children. Maybe you want to start by doing the heavy lifting first without your kids around. Take the trash and outgrown clothing out. Then invite your kids in to make decisions on what they would like to keep and care for.
We did the heavy lifting for this darling girl and set aside items for her to decide on herself. Providing her with some decisions also gave her more ownership on keeping her newly straightened space more organized. She LOVES her closet (and room)!
