Permission: 5 Things You Can Let Go Of, Bedroom

Have you ever thought, "I just need someone to give me permission to get rid of this"? That's what this Permission series is all about. We'll walk through room by room, list 5 items per room you can part with right away, and why the items can be easy to get out of your house.

I ran the first part of this series back in 2019. You can see those post by going to the Permission Intro here.

As always, it's your house and your stuff. You may actually need and use the things I suggest you part with. But if you don't, give yourself a little more freedom to find a little more peace in your house by letting go of things that you don't need.

Today we'll be in the bedroom. Dressers, side tables, and beds all lend themselves to a few easy things to let go of to make your bedroom more peaceful for you. Whether it's just you, you and your spouse, or your child's room here are a few things you can easily take out.

  1. Lip Balm

Have you ever actually finished an entire tube of lip balm before it got lost? A lot of times they get dirt around the edge and depending on who uses it, in the balm itself. Maybe you aren't even really a lip balm user. Super easy for you to let it go then.

ACTION - round up your lip balms and toss any that are dirty or otherwise look unsanitary.

  2. Sleep Mask

Be honest. When is the last time you changed your sleep mask? There are so many reasons to change them out and keep them clean. Unwashed face, night sweating, drool, and just plain sleeping in it.

ACTION - take a quick look at that sleep mask and toss it if it's nasty.

  3. Old T-shirts

How many t-shirts do you wear in a week? Do you re-wear the same t-shirts week after week? Do you think you have to keep certain t-shirts because someone gave them to you or it was, at one time, an important event? It's probably time to let some go.

ACTION - choose your favorites that you like to wear and keep those in your dresser or closet; the few that you just can't let go of yet but don't wear can go into a bin labeled "memories" or make it into a t-shirt quilt if you will use it.

  4. Pillows

You may not know that you should wash and replace your pillows. In fact, you should replace them every year or so and even more often if you have allergies. There is no need to keep a stock of pillows in your home either. They take up a lot of space that can be used for other more important things.

ACTION - go through the house and check your pillows; if they are misshapen, toss them; make a plan to purchase new pillows and write the date on the tag once purchased

  5. Undies and socks

Sometimes you just need some to tell you to get rid of your socks and underwear and buy new ones. They are stained, have holes, or are worn out and stretchy. Just go ahead and through them out.

ACTION - throw away your old, yucky socks and underwear; it's okay.
