Does This Item Serve My Household?
Sometimes going through your belongings is easy. That wrapper from the sucker your kid just popped in his mouth? Trash. That ripped pair of jeans? Trash. That outgrown toy? Donate. That book you won't read again? Donate.
Then there are things that are just a little more difficult to decide on. That teapot that your aunt gave you when you were ten years old? That perfume that you haven't worn in six months? What about that outfit that you loved on daughter when she was a toddler but now she is a teenager?
Each month I'm going to give you a question to help you think through whether or not you want to keep an item. There is no right or wrong answer. There is just your answer.
I love this question!
You can ask this question while going through the items in your home AND before bringing new items into your home. It's a great question!
A few freebie tips to go along with it to help you determine if it stays or if it goes!
1. If you haven't seen that item in a long time and you didn't immediately think "I've been looking for that!" then it probably isn't serving your household well.
2. Just because it serves your household doesn't mean it HAS to serve your household. People make things because it serves them. It doesn't have to serve everyone.
I will often times be out looking around and see the cutest little thing. But I then think, "does this item serve my household?" and that helps me to be intentional about bringing it into my home or not.
