Wherever you store your Tupperware, Rubbermaid, Sterilite, generic food storage plastic or glass containers with lids, here are some tips to keep them easily tidied.

Have all the same kind. Preferably a kind that will nest.

Keep only matches. Missing a lid or container? Out it goes.

Give lids their own space. After you nest your containers, give lids their own container specifically for the lids to live in. Don’t use one of the containers that you will use for food storage.

Always put things back where they belong. It’s easy to do if you follow all of the above tips. It takes less than 10 seconds to return a single item to its proper home. In turn, it takes less than 5 seconds to retrieve that same item after it has been put away appropriately. Taking 1 second to toss something near where it lives but not to its exact spot can result in several minutes to retrieve it also leading to frustration.
